What is it?
Chiropractic care focuses on properly aligning the body's structures-primarily the spine-to allow for natural, surgery-free healing. A chiropractor's goal is not to give patients medications so they don't feel pain, but to discover the source of the pain and correct the problem.
At the office of Dr. Dorothy Brolin the emphasis is on gentle, effective treatments, including spinal manipulation, physical therapy and rehabilitation, to get to the source of the problem and remedy it.
Why chiropractic?
The nervous system controls all of the body's functions, and depends on the vertebrae in your spine to protect it. When your vertebrae are out of line, they can prohibit optimal operation of the nervous system, which can lead to various physical problems.
Is it safe?
Chiropractic treatments are incredibly safe. Actually, they're one of the safest kinds of medical care available, and doctors of chiropractic have studied extensively to fully understand the body's systems.
What problems can it address?
In addition to preventative and wellness care, chiropractic care treats, but is not limited to, back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms, shoulders, hips and legs, headaches, fibromyalgia, numbness, scoliosis, arthritis, sports and work related injuries, auto accidents, and other health issues.
How is a chiropractic adjustment performed?
Chiropractic adjustment or manipulation is a procedure that utilizes the highly refined skills developed during the intensive years of chiropractic education. The doctor of chiropractic typically uses an instrument and/or their hands to manipulate the joints of the body, particularly the spine, in order to reduce pain, and restore or enhance joint function. Chiropractic manipulation is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort. The doctor of chiropractic adapts the procedure to meet the specific needs of each patient. Patients often note positive changes in their symptoms immediately following treatment.
